Industrial Pumps and Valves Manufacturer

Reliability and efficiency are most important factors, when it comes to procuring capital good in industries. Industries are inclined towards high performance products so that they will receive better outputs and lowest life cycle cost. Pumps and Valves are very important part of any industries fluid handling network. It is estimated that pumps can consume as much as 80% of energy requirements in industries. Kirloskar Brothers Limited’s (KBL) has been leading the way by supplying world class fluid handling solutions by means of its highly efficient, reliable, innovative and cost effective pumps and valves.
KBL is recognized as the trusted brand of industrial pump and valves manufacturer. The wide range of Kirloskar pumps broadly covers all the agricultural, domestic and industrial applications. Also KBL manufactures pumps conforming to International Standards.

KBL - Leading Turbine Manufacturer

Francis turbine
The harnessing of energy of the falling water to provide mechanical power has been one of man's greatest achievements. Water wheels providing mechanical power for grinding and water pumping are still in common use.  The industrial revolution created new requirements, which demanded larger power generating capacities, which led to rapid improvement in the design of water wheels, turbines and generators. The capacities of hydro power plants became very large as electricity generation became common place by the end of 19th century. The position has ultimately reached a stage where large-scale hydroelectric plants contribute significantly to the State's and the National energy demand. Unfortunately, every development has its cost and the cost of exploiting hydro power is vigilance in ensuring the environment is not irreparably damaged and the life of the river continues to flourish. This demands considerable care and attention in planning.
Kaplan turbines
The situation is different in case of micro, mini or small hydro power projects. A micro, mini or small hydro power station can divert potential energy of the water, which would have dissipated to no benefit in the natural flow along the watercourse. Mini, micro and small hydro plants combine the advantages of large hydro plants on one hand and decentralized power supply on the other. The disadvantages associated with large hydro power plants, like high transmission costs, environmental issues like submergence of forests and croplands, and displacement of families, are not present in small plants.

Moreover, the harnessing of local resources like small hydro resources, being of a decentralised nature, lends itself to decentralised utilization, local implementation and management, making rural development possible based on self-reliance and use of local natural resources. With proper site selection, turbine sizing and commissioning it is very cost effective when integrated with irrigation and water supply projects.
Pelton turbine
Kirloskar Brothers Limited, the leaders in fluid handling, has been manufacturing hydro turbines for small hydro applications and offers turnkey execution facilities under one roof. KBL has supplied, erected and commissioned the Electra-mechanical equipment for several small hydroelectric schemes in India.
Types of Turbines Manufacture by KBL:
  • Francis turbine
  • Kaplan turbines
  • Pelton turbine

FM/UL approved Fire Hydrant Sys.at Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. commissioned

KBL erects and commissions FM/UL approved Fire Hydrant System in Plate Mill Project at Jindal Steel and Power Limited, Raigarh (CG)

Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL), the largest pump manufacturer in India, announces the successful erection and commissioning of a Factory Mutual (FM) and Underwrites Laboratories (UL) listed Fire Hydrant System for the Plate Mill at Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) in Raigarh (Chhattisgarh), India. Kirloskar Brothers has three factories located in India, UK and USA that are Factory Mutual (FM) approved and capable of manufacturing this range of pumps.

The FM-UL fire hydrant system at JSPL site was inaugurated by Mr. N.A. Ansari, the Executive Director. The project included erection and commissioning of two FM/UL approved Fire water Pump set (Head – 88m, Discharge – 273 m3/hr) driven by electric motor and diesel engine, two jockey pumps, valves and pipes. JSPL are one of the first steel plants in India to install this advanced Fire Fighting system, which is a standard in European and American steel plants.

FM-UL fire fighting pump sets fully comply to American standard - NFPA 20. Accordingly, the pump, engine, controller, which are FM approved and UL listed, give more reliability of operation at any point of time. Quarterly audit of manufacturing are conducted by FM/UL to ensure strict adherence to quality norms laid down by this standards. FM/UL approved controller enables weekly programming which allows automatic running of pump sets for set timing and keeps all records of pump operation so that pump is always in working condition.
